OT - We lost power last night

For about 1/2 hour, the power was out all over the area. We, the neighborhood "Y2K nutz", had power of course. Yeah, it was tough walking down the basement stairs and flipping the start switch.

That 20kW genny purred to life, and we settled back in to watch a movie. I did go outside (we had the porch lights on) to watch the neighbors staring out their candle-lit windows, evidently hypnotized by the brilliant white lights on the front of our house.

(snicker....)

Of course, the 10,000 rds we layed in for Y2K are coming in handy at the range. (wink wink)

Hey! How come all you folks got your lights off!

When I bought my generator last summer, the guy in line behind me at Costco asked "Is that a Y2K generator?" I told him it was a Dunwoody Tornado / Hurricane Opal / Atlanta Winter Ice Storm / Y2K generator. I also caught some ca-ca from an old buddy about my "Y2K generator".

That genset came in real handy when we were without power for about 60 hours due to an ice storm in January. It ran the furnace, fridge, some lights, and the TV (NFL playoff Sunday) just fine.

Oh, yeah - my friend was out of town, and we put his wife and new baby up at our house as his house was cold and dark. Needless to say, he isn't living that one down any time soon.
