Extending our tax return today, and couldn't help but laugh at this web site. Even the IRS has a sense of humor ... ;)

quote:
TYLER, TX. High school junior, Tanya Taylor, took home her first paycheck from her first summer job today, and she was one of the few new part-time workers who was not surprised by what it contained. "Many of my friends thought they got to keep all of their pay.", Tanya chuckled. "Boy, were they shocked to see all of the deductions! Fortunately, my boss gave me a heads-up of what to expect." [JT - I'm sure that made her feel warm and fuzzy about seeing only 90% of her pay ...]

"Tyler is the Rose Capital of the World", boasts Tanya's employer, Rosa Rosario, owner of Rosa's Roses, "but it wouldn't be if we didn't take care of our roses and our employees. Teaching our summer help how taxation works is an important part of that, so I insist that all of my new employees visit the TAX interactive web site."

Tanya recommends that all teens entering the workforce "wake up and smell the roses, and visit the TAX interactive web site."[/quote]

Isn't this just so wonderfully cheery? After Tanya's spent a bit more time in 'workforce', she'll realize that income taxes don't smell anything like roses ... ;)

Live and let live. Regards from AZ

And the check that she is holding has "THIS IS NOT A CHECK" written all over it (sure, I'm going to cut n' paste her check and go try to cash it  )

[Yeah, I'm doing mine too :( ]

Yeah, just wait till she gets a "real" job and gets to see more like 75% of it (if she's lucky) :p to the IRS.

Well, that was a fun day....

Just finished our up a little while ago. Didn't get reamed as bad as I thought, that't the good news. The even better news is that while digging through last year's return I found that I hadn't taken the Child Tax Credit :o .

The question now becomes does anyone have any ideas on what to spend the $600 (my 1/2) on. My thoughts now are leaning towards a HK USP .45. I would like to get something nice, but this unexpected windfall has me befuddled :D .

I hope everyone realizes that the only way we are ever going to be able to get a handle on this government is through their pocket book. It's why I always suggest that we should join forces with the tax protestors. Sooner or later we are going to have to make the choice.... to pay taxes or not.
