(OT) Cancer

This probably belongs somewhere else. Just found out about two hours ago my dad has stomach cancer, with a tumor about the size of a fist. Don't really know that much about it, but that can't be good - especially for a 75-year old man who went in for an abdominal aortic bypass, only to have the surgeon discover this. Waiting for the doctor to call me right now, hopefully to give me some more info than my mom was able to. No idea what the prognosis, possible treatment, etc. is. May have to go on emergency leave to head up to Ohio, if for no other reason than support for my mom. The doc did tell Mom that Dad wasn't in imminent danger, but who knows what that means? In any case, any TFLers that believe in prayer, my family and I could sure use some right now. Thanks.

My prayers will be with you, your Dad and the rest of your family this evening. Additionally, I've mentioned it to my Mother-in-law, who basicly says the rosary all day long (from the time her daughters leave the house in the morning until they come home from work at night -- praying ALL day long) and she will be including him in her prayers. Best regards, FUD.

I know where you and your family are at. My family has been going through the same thing over the past year.

My best wishes and prayers to you, your Dad, and the rest of your family.

My prayers are with your father. Do realize, however, that 75 is not "old" anymore, and he will likely come through just fine. Two weeks ago my dad had a minor heart attack after having quintuple bypass surgery nine years ago. He's 83 and still keeps ticking. Stay your faith.

True, 75 is not really old anymore.

Stomach cancer has a high recovery rate. The size of the tumor is disturbing, however.

You'll know better soon. Be strong for your father. He'll need it.
