Well I dont know why but I was tuning into the Academy Awards when they have the "Toy Story" Toys present a toy. You know the Cowboy and the Spaceman Buzz Light Year.

They Cowboy whose name escapes me right now had his holster for his six shooter but it did not have any gun in it.

I thought a subtle but nevertheless present bias from the liberal hollywood elitists.

My kids have plenty of toys... Star Wars actions figures are a favorite... Each one comes with a gun or 2. After a week those tiny little guns are history.
Funny how that happens.
 
Just saw the Oscars on TV here (delayed broadcast).

In one scene, you can see the cowboy's gun has been digitally erased. (You can see a faint fuzzy blur above the holster.)

To me, this suggests the "censorship" was done at a later date, by the Oscar's producers.

Be that as it may -- I've seen enough altered digital imagery to know whereof I speak -- and something has been altered in the area above the holster. Perhaps an animator put in the gun, before someone realised it was supposed to be "lost".

Ahh... The gun was erased digitally by a G-man with a lap top and cell link from the grassy knoll. No! Wait! It was Cuban software hackers! No! Now I have it! The mafia was in on it, too! ;) :)
 
Probably removed before the movie's release.
In defense of Pixar, it is absolutely true that the guns are quickly lost. History. I still have a lot of my old G.I. Joes (or what was left after the 4th of july :D ) and no guns, helmets, backpacks, etc.
 
Yeah, but Buzz still has his trusty laser built into his suit! :D

Let’s see Woody a toy himself can’t have a toy gun.
Sid (the mean kid) on the other hand can have matches
fireworks and all his other stuff-- unsupervised. Yeah
the censors got it right.
