Organizing the small tools on your reloading bench

Finding a place to keep the small tooling used in reloading can be a real pain and I just discovered something I find to be very useful.

Went to Home Depot looking for parts bin boxes and found a Husky 11" Bin box for 3.97 that has the best set of hinges and latches I have seen in these style boxes so I got a couple.

I filled the first one up and immediately realized it was all in one place and I realized I need a way label the bins so I came up with a document that when printed and trimmed fits inside the lid of the bin organizer.

These are neck turning tools for uniforming case necks to enhance accuracy of my long range rifles but obviously it is good for storing other things like shell holders (by number and caliber) and other small parts.

I opened WORD and designed the document shown in the lid in the above. If you would like to make up such open the below and print it out and follow the directions on the document and cut along the outer line and it will fit this size box perfectly.

FLASH: I made up templates for two more Husky boxes and posted them in the cloud on google and last night I decided to download the template and print it out and the google version prints the template about 1/4" smaller on all sides. I uploaded the file from my documents but something got lost in the changeover. If this happens to you just PM me with email address and I will send you the file right from my documents. I now have templates for the 7", 9" and 11" bin boxes so can send you all three at once.

If anyone knows how to get such translated WITHOUT the change in size please PM me and tell me how to fix this. Sorry for the problem guys but Yogi Berra was right, "you don't know what you don't know till you know what you don't know" and I don't know how to correct this haha.

Good info, but the pic was so big it is difficult to see, gotta scroll side to side...

In my shop, nothing is "on the bench" except my press(s) and a 4 drawer tool box where the majority of small reloading thingys live, and a 4 drawer cabinet under my bench where my turrets w/dies, shell holders, "extra" dies and die boxes stay (and misc other stuff). All my small gun parts go in the 4"x8"x1" plastic, multi compartment boxes and my hand tools live on a pegboard above/behind the bench. Perhaps it's because I learned early, and used tools most of my life to make a living, but, everything has a place, it gets cleaned and put back in that place every time it's used...

(I even have a Craftsman 8 oz. ball peen hammer I bought for my first "machinist" job in 1968, still in good shape).

I started out using a 2x10 ish pencil holder that my wife started out using in the bathroom to hold makeups and stuff. We moved, got more shelf space so I swiped it. It worked while I only reloaded one caliber and basically kept a pen, primer pocket cleaners and a chamfer debur tool in it. Since I expanded the calibers I reload and added more tools I've been looking for something larger. This looks to be the ticket!

I have three of those organizers that are green, they came from RCBS. One box came with seating die parts and another came with sizing die parts. The last one has case gage and rotors for Uniflow powder measures. It is not a problem for me but the lids are not transparent.

The good one comes fro the Container Store, it is transparent and has 2 sides. I use that one for shell holders.

How do I keep up with that organizer?

I do not know, I have 5 file cabinets that were designed for card files and micro film, one drawer holds 4 organizers. I understand that makes no sense to most but the drawers are long from front to back but shallow meaning the wall is more than 3 foot away. If I did not make use of all of my space I would be out (of space).

Had to go to PO yesterday and while in town I was drawn to HD again and to my surprise they had a box of 9 inch organizers so I got a couple.

I worked up the template for that size last night and is available for you guys below.

Will try and do the 7" box this evening.

Oh yes I forgot to add, once you get the template filled out you can apply Scotch Tape to the little tabs you fold down to keep it in place while box is open.
