Read the new "Assault Weapons Ban" proposal here,

http://landru.leg.state.or.us/05reg/measures/sb0900.dir/sb0927.intro.html

Mimicking California's version, Oregon Senator Ginny Burdick (D-Portland) has proposed "Emergency Legislation outlawing the manufacture, sale, and transfer of certain semi-automatic firearms (listed by model, maker and characteristics), prohibits the possession of magazines larger than ten rounds, and establishes a state-sponsored permitting scheme for anyone wishing to continue lawfully possessing any firearm on the banned list.

I have invested many years in finding the right location and law enforcement personnel to open a tactical training center in Eastern Oregon. I had almost purchased a home near this location last summer because everything was coming together, but held off due to the western Liberal/Communist attitude against basic liberties.

I thought I had found my Hardyville!

I have informed the Senator of my concerns via e-mail and will be sending letters to the editors of several newspapers across the state.

You can assist by sending your thoughts to the Senator at, sen.ginnyburdick@state.or.us

The left coast politburo has decimated the urban economy of the state by attacking all resource based business, i.e. timber harvesting and mineral extraction, in favor of a "Tourist Based Economy".

Can you say boycott tourism.... Just a thought...

I hope you will do what you can to help stop this legislation.

Thanks all...

Although I live in Washington, my e-mail has been sent anyway.

It reads as follows:

Senator,

I am concerned about the proposed semi-automatic firearms ban being introduced to your state legislature.
Being a resident of Washington, I have frequented Oregon hunting areas regularly. I also participate in competitive shooting activities, some of which take place in your state.
As I am sure you are aware, a new firearms training center, Thunder Ranch, has recently relocated to Oregon. The host hundreds of shooters annually, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars of tourist-based income to local business.
Your proposed legislation will not only have a severe impact on Oregon state hunting, as well as training centers, ranges and competitions throughout your state. This will cause much of the shooting related income your state receives to be spent elsewhere.
In addition, many Washington State hunters and shooters, like myself, enjoy what Oregon has to offer. We enjoy not only the shooting aspect, but everything your state has to offer. This new legislation will have Washington and California sportsmen looking for a new place to hunt and shoot.
In the past, Oregon has been able to resist the liberal attitude that California and New York have infested the rest of this country with. I have always pictured Oregon as a state that was very good at protecting the rights of it's citizens. I would hate to see that change now.

Thank you for your consideration,
