Ordered from Underwood Ammo for the first time

I bought two 20 rnd boxes of 9mm 124+P XTPs and two 20 rnd boxes of 40sw 155 XTPs. I wanted 165s but they're OOS. I've heard good stuff about them and that they produced very close to velocities at what they claimed.

After I ordered and looking them up on YouTube (didn't cover mine) then decided to look at the details on Underwood.

9mm
1225 fps
413 fpe

That's pretty impressive but then I saw the 40sw details. Yikes!

1300 fps
582 fpe

The 40sw is not even a +P.

I've ordered and shot Underwood and it is good ammo. Just keep in mind that high velocities may overdrive some bullet designs. I've seen tests with Gold Dots, for example, which were propelled faster than their designed speed. This resulted in jacket separation and some fragmetation.

I haven't seen such problems with the XTP bullets, thought they do tend to penetrate deeper than optimal for defensive purposes.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Underwood Ammo. I do miss back 3-4 years ago when their 357 Sig FMJ was priced much cheaper though. I used it for practice ammo back when it was only $18 a box. I think its more like $30 a box now.

Underwood makes some pretty serious stuff. I use their 44mag and .357 ammo quite a bit.

It does seem that their prices took a pretty serious jump over the past year or so too.
