mathman... what about getting an 870P and then buying a second barrel with the vent-rib set-up you prefer? Seems like that would be the easiest solution...
two problems with that...
first, remington doesn't make a 21" vent rib that you can buy alone...
second, the finish on the 870P and the extra barrel would be different (yuck)...
It is too short for many people, but I prefer the shorter barrels for portability in the field. The shorter barrel doesn't affect how I shoot...they all 'swing' the same to me. But the vent rib helps me tremendously with the speed of target aquisition.hmmm....... what would be your primary purpose for the shotgun? Wouldn't 21" be a bit too short for a field gun?
From what I have heard in these forums, it is a parkerized finish which is of a higher quality than the bead blasted finish on the 870 Express.What is the finish on the 870P? Blue? Parked? Something else?
