Ordered a copy of the catalog my vintage M&P pre model 10 was in

I sent away for the history letter for my M&P revolver and found out it was sent to Kliens sporting goods in Chicago in 1946. found a company online that had a catalog reprint from that year and it lists my revolver at $45.50

One weird thing though its lists a available caliber as 38 colt special???

.38 Colt Special was the same as .38 S&W Special except it was loaded with a flatpointed bullet instead of round nose.
It was common for the old catalogs to list everything usable

Congrats to the OP on your M & P - my favorite is my 5" made in 1952 . . . there's just something "special" about a good vintage M & P!

The cartridge all the way to the right is a .38 Colt Special.

I believe this picture was taken by one of the members here, Bob... I'll be darned if I can remember his name now.

Colt had a long history of taking the vastly more popular S&W-designed rounds, changing the round-nose bullet to a flat point, and slapping their name on it.
