Orange Safety 870?

Stopped in my local cop shop and spotted what I thought was a dummy gun.. Turned out that it was an 870 with a traffic cone orange stock and forearm.

It looked shootable - did not test fire (:D), but cycled the action. The knowledgeable guy was busy and I had to leave, but I think it was a real SG.

Thoughts?

I think I saw something in the Brownell's catalog that might be part of this....a stock set for an 870 that was bright orange with the words "Less Lethal" on the buttstock. Apparently this is how the police are supposed to tell the badguys which officer to shoot last because either he's the worst shot on the force or he's the one shooting rubber buckshot instead of lead
