options for low power scope for high recoil handgun ???

so far... the only one I've seen that interests me, is the Burris 1X... currious am I missing anything ???

it'll be going on a 10" Contender in 30-30... 1- 4X would be good... 2X is not so good ( I currently have a Burris 2 - 7X on it now ) a 1.5X... maybe

suggestions ???

I had a Burris(2x?) x7 on mine....it worked great as long as I had snadbags to shoot of of..... My favorite handgun scope is a x2 power Leupold. It seems that the magnified motion makes the highpower handgun scope just not practical.......... I really prefur open sights on handguns (especially for hunting).... after many years of practice I have removed and sold most of my handgun scopes,........ That being said... the "Ultra Dot" is probly the best hand gun scope for the money you can buy.

There was a time when I was about 13 or 14 and I walked up the the range master and asked " Can I use my contender (pistol)30-30 to shoot in the 100yrd Iron Sight Rifle Comp." The master kind of smiled and said just pay your money kid and your in. I entered and took 2nd place....The 30-30 with irons is NO slacker.

The only scope I use on my scoped handguns (.44 Mag S&W revolvers and M41 S&W .22 LR target gun) is the 2X EER Leupold. I successfully hunted both deer and wild hogs with the scoped S&W .44 mag revolvers for several years. For me, more magnification was not practical because it narrowed the field of view and magnified the wobble too much. More power also made eye relief and eye alignment with scope much too critical. YMMV

I have a 4X Leupold on my .30-30 Contender; good for MOA accuracy. At least, back when my eyes were younger.:D I've a Burris 2X on my Redhawk.

2X Nikon EER is a nice scope.

Freedom475: At 13 or 14 it was your eyes and hands that made that 30-30 a good shooter. When in my early 20s I did the same thing with an unscoped Marlin. No more.

I have had a 2X Leupold on a 44Mag for years. Never a problem. With the changes in my eyes (nigh on to 60 years) I will be scoping more handguns. The 2X Leupold will probably be a first choice. I have a 2x7 on a Ruger MkII but without a rest on the higher powers it is tough to hold steady.

I've got a 2X TC scope on my 10" Contender 30-30... I love it... decent magnafication, but still able to hold it steady...

I just took a white-tail deer with it at 110 yards yesterday...

low power

I have an Trijicon reflex sight on my 10" .30-30. I have a Eotech on a 10" .44 Mag barrel that has broken two other scopes (An ATN reflex and a "recoil proof" red dot from Cabela).
Both work well out to 100 yards.

I have a Leupold 4X target scope. Great clarity & magnification. It would make a great target scope. It has the target elevation turret with click adjustability. It makes it too tall to fit in most holsters.

I've got it mounted & zeroed on my Ruger Redhawk now, ready for deer season, but I think it is too much magnification for that. PM me if you're interested in buying it in a few weeks. (after deer season) I'll sell it to you for $100 less than new retail price.

I'm a die hard Leupold man, I have a 2x eer on my .475 Linebaugh, and it handles the recoil fine. Durability in a handgun scope is a must.

1.25 - 4X http://www.rapidreticle.com/44mag.htm

calibrated for .44 magnum 1400 fps. However, the center cross hair is just that a center cross hair. One does not need to rely upon the other 'rapid recticle' cross hairs. Unless of course one wishes to personally calibrate them. Nice scope. Avaialable on midwayusa.com
