The rail I have mounted on my Ruger MKIII SS Hunter with 67/8" fluted barrel with an Ultradot4dot mounted on it keeps working loose. Not the scope but the rail. I've been using my wifes nailpolish without much success. What do you guys use???? I heard somewhere that Loc-Tight Purple lid was the way to go because you can use a screw driver to break it loose if you ever want to remove the rail, but trying to find that was next to impossible around here. All I could find was the Blue lid which they said was medium (scares me....all I need to do is use something I can't break loose without a torch). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JimK

I'm sure there is more than one variety of LockTite and others will give you some choices. I use a permatex brand but only because it was gien to me. Might I suggest that in addition to the use of LockTite, you first clean the tope of your reciever and then apply a strip of double sticky tape to the contact area of the base that came with your MKIII. The tape that I am refering to, is teh one used to stick poly sheets over your windows to keep out drafts. Just make sure you get the one that is rated for outdoor use. I have used this stuff without the LockTite. It's made by 3M but am sure other brands would work. Hang on cause this tape really sticks but you will still be able to remove the base. Try it for yourself and see what you think. .. ;)

As far as Lock-Tite goes, for your application blue is the way to go. It'll break loose if you need it to but should hold your base firmly in place. If Lock-Tite (blue) doesn't do the trick I'd make sure that the base is compatible in terms of contour/surface radius with the pistol's mounting surface.

I had the same problem with my front sight screw. Call Ruger, they should send you a longer threaded screw that you can try, and/or loctite it.

Ruger was really good about it.
