Recently ordered a scope through Optics Planet. I had never used this Company before but the price was right so I gave it a try.

After my experience with them, I cannot recommend them and have had my name removed from their mailing list.

Following are my reasons:

1. They showed that the order had been shipped. In fact it was not actually shipped until two days later.
2. Do to weather conditions UPS could not deliver the package to the address.
3. I contacted Optics Planet to have the package redirected. They charged me $11.00 to redirect caliming that UPS charged them. That is not true. Undeliverable packages are redirected for free.
4. According to the UPS driver nor request to redirect was made.
5. When I contacted their Optical Planets Customer service they were most discourteous and once again lied to me.

Hopefully, this posting will save you some grief.
 
I've ordered quite a bit of stuff from them. Only once did they show something in stock that wasn't, took my money and then 3 days later I contacted them to cancel the order since they couldn't give me an ETA. Other than that, many transactions have gone very smoothly with them.

Yes, I had the same issue where the item was supposed to be in stock, but after I placed an order it turned up on backorder. I have placed several orders with them that went fine, but that one incident always makes me hesitate about using them again.
 
I bought an item from them on eBay that they then said was out of stock. That made me mad. I ordered from them because they were the lowest price and in the mean time the NEXT lowest auction ended. That REALLY made me mad since the 3rd lowest price was a LOT more.
Won't order from them again.
 
I've used Optics Planet with good success, but I've also always called to check to see if a given item is in stock before actually placing the order.
 
I've ordered from them a couple of times and have had good luck using them.

Interesting to know about their issues with some items being in / out of stock. Nonetheless, I'd order from them again if the price was good.
 
I've been using Optics Planet for a couple years and think they have great prices and service. Any time I've placed an order and it was out of stock, they've immediately sent me an email notifying me it was out of stock. They always give the option of waiting, picking something different, or cancelling the order. If the item was in stock, I'd have it in 2-3 days. Sometimes I've received the item before I got the email that it was shipped! I just bought a DeSantis holster for my 3913 from them, and I have some Hogue wood grips on order with them. I have no complaints about them.

UPS has always delivered to me after the weather cleared. You were in a hurry and ASKED to have the package redirected. You got billed. Okay.

Did you need the item immediately? Did those two days really matter or are you just making a list of odds and ends to complain about?
 
I have had no issues from Optics Planet. But if I place an order with anyone that they later tell me the item is out of stock, I cancel the order if the estimated restocking is not to my liking. Pretty simple.

Weather conditions... gee, you are rather picky. Heck, the US Mail doesn't delivery in adverse conditions anymore. Garbage doesn't get picked up either. Whay should UPS be any different? I guess you want to be compensated by the airlines if your flight is canceled due to weather?

I don't know if UPS charges anything for a redirected delivery, but it would not surprise me since it requires them to find the package and do a change of delivery address. People's time generally costs.

I ordered a mount from them online last weekend.. Sat or Sun... can't remember.

I got the emails saying "you've placed an order.." yada yada...

I then got an email saying my order was delayed, because they had just run out of stock on that item, and that they expected to have the mounts in "5-10 working days" :confused:
I was a little irritated that the online ordering process did not catch this during the ordering process, :mad: but... no biggie. I can wait.

Called them Monday to get an idea of ETA updates, and the (very helpful) customer service lady said that the mounts had already come in, and they would be shipping my order "within 1 or 2 days". I said "COOL" , or something to that effect. :cool:

Got an email yesterday, saying it had shipped. Checked today, it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Life is good.... I'll use 'em again, no problem. I might do as was mentioned, call them to check availability before placing the order, but they gave me good service on this order.

Sorry you had problems, ITC... maybe a misunderstanding on the shipping destination?
 
ive had stock problems with opticsplanet as well.

If you cant track down inventory in a month, dont list an item on your website. Thats ridiculous.

For what its worth they were polite and very fast responding.
 
I ordered a scope from Oplanet. Shipping was spot on.
The optics were s a little blurry when I got it; I returned it via their RMA process and they sent a new one out pronto.

your kilometridge has obviously varied.
 
I have only placed one order with them and it was a great experience.

I had an order all set to go with CTD until I saw how much they were charging for shipping. Went to Optics Planet and got all the same stuff within $1 of CTD price but way less in shipping (may have been free, I don't exactly remember).

Before placing my order I was having a tough time finding the mounts I needed. I emailed them asking and they got back within a couple hours and told me exactly what I needed.

Great shipping time, great prices, great products, great customer service....
 
I'm a regular buyer. They've always been good to me. When I had a problem with a product (defective product, not their fault), they exchanged it for me for free.
