Optics for PS90

At this weekends gunshow I finally picked up a PS90. It's the flattop version without sight, and I'm starting to look at the options - and I'm rather confused, having never looked at red-dot and similar devices.
There also seems to be a huge price (and quality?) gap, lots of stuff in the $100 range, and then a big jump to $500 and more for Eotech, Aimpoint, Zeiss etc.
Any informed opinion what to use on a gun like that would be appreciated.

Well, what is the intended use, and how hard do you expect to treat it? Aimpoints and EOtechs can take a substantial amount of abuse. Cheaper sights might break easier or lose zero after getting knocked around. If you are looking for a range sight to use under 100m, most of those $100 red-dots will work. If you are looking for more of a duty gun or hard training gun, I'd pony up and get one of the more expensive (duty/combat proven) sights.

If you plan to take the weapon in to harm's way, such as a home defense carbine, I'd strongly recommend a relatively expensive aimpoint. You can keep the optic on for years, and should you ever need the weapon, you can just grab it and go. Aimpoints are damn near bulletproof, and are extremely reliable.

If it's a range toy, a NC Star RDS is probably suitable for your needs.
