Optic Decision

Just bought an AR-10 DPMS Sportical, 16" barrel, flat top.
I'm trying to decide what sighting system to put on it. I'm pretty new to this stuff other than doing my own research.

I'm considering an EOTech and Aimpoint. I've shot an EOTech fitted AR and it was cool, but my eyes apparently have gone a bit, the reticule is a bit fuzzy. I also like all the options of the Aimpoint and maybe the red dot would be more suitable for me.

What do you guys think and what have you guys had experience with and what are your thoughts?

Thanks,
JP

I've been researching myself and as long as you're not playing SEAL and going diving with it you may want to look at the package deal on an Aimpoint CompC3 from SWFA. It's the same as the CompM4 except that you can't take it as deep. To co-witness the iron sights you'll need a spacer to mount the Aimpoint a tad higher. And I'd probably add rubber armor.

I was also impressed by an essay on tactical optics they have stickied over at M4carbine.net. I'm not sure if you have to sign up or not.

I like the Aimpoints. I got a pretty good deal a few years back on a cantilever mount and the sight from GG&G. Got my BUIS there too. Their stuff is well made and works as advertised. The prices on their deals are usually pretty good too.

I also have a M15A4(T) set up with both a Leupold 1.5x5 and a backup Aimpoint, both on ARMS lever mounts. They swap at will with no loss of zero. I've been eying up one of Trijicons 1.25x4 Accu Points to replace the Leupold.
