New mini 14 sight / hider combo.
This is just the first prototype, but I value your opinions.
adjustable front sks type post, gun kote painted, made to work with the factory rear aperture.
Thanks in advance.

Art,

My goal was to make it more practical than tactical.
BTW, the bipod is attached to the barrel stabilizer, not the barrel, and was used for phots only. Tests will be done on a sand bag or stock mounted bipod, but thanks for your input.

Being a mini owner I can say that I dont have any issues with the front sight. I think they are much better than the older mini front sights. If your product is designed for the older mini's then I think you have a good product. If its for the newer mini's I personally wouldnt swap mine out.

For the 181-198 series mini's then in my opinion you have something people might want. The front sights and the rear sight for that matter leave alot to be desired. Im glad ruger addressed that issue when they retooled and started building the 580 series.

From a practical standpoint, I'd figure that the ears for the front sight should be more like most of those on military rifles--not sticking up as high. I'm not sure that the "wrap-around" feature is really needed.

And for my own four Minis, through the years, I found that the factory 10-round mag was the most practical combo for number of available shots and ease of carrying.

I'm mostly a hunter, and have yet to have found a time when a bipod would have been useful.

Personally I would grade that as a B-. Its good, but I dont like the sight hood at all, seems to me thats just waiting to catch on brush or the seat cover in the truck. Personally I would like to see a more traditional hood like the m14-m16 style.

Also, if it were my design or if I had bought it, I would want the flash ports cut a bit longer. But I think I would give it a try, never know how something will perform until ya try it.

just my .02

Looks pretty good to me. I agree that a full ring (HK-style) would be preferred. Is the flash hider slotted on the bottom?

@Art= I don't believe he asked opinions about mag size or hunting with a bipod.
