Opinions sought on L1A1

One of my acquaintances has an L1A1 with a sporter stock built on an Imbel receiver for sale for $600. I don't know much about the FAL style rifles, and have been searching The FAL Files for more info. My question is this: Is this a good price to pay and if so what can I do to make this rifle more accurate. I really want a semi-auto .308 aso IF I buy it I'd probably send it off to ARS for some work.

PJ, If the rifle is in decent shape, it's worth the 600. Here in SC they're fetching a bit more - about 800 or so. DSA has good prices on used magazines - I just got ten for $130.

I have a DSA o/o and picked up a Imbel parts gun for checking the concept. I think it is a very reasonable system.

Two things I'm not thrilled with - the sights are a bit short for long range iron sight work (I plan to scope) and the gas adjustment system leves me cold.

I still plan to get the DSA.....
