Opinions - Russian Red Hardwood vs Laminate Stock

I’m curious as to opinions on the old school Russian red hardwood vs the laminate stocks.

I’ve run across a couple of non-refurbs and they have me asking myself which I like better. Personally, I like the old school Russian red hardwood but the Laminates do stick out. I dunno….I tend to lean traditional….

Thoughts?

I have had a few Russian guns and still have some wood around. Sure looks like some kind of spruce or pine with red dye on it.

Don't care for the look of the laminates myself...

Now, if you were to have included the Finnish Arctic Birch- beautiful!

+1 on the Finnish Birch. That stuff has a gorgeous maple flame pattern. I've got an M39 that wears it and it looks fantastic.

"Russian Red" was used on solid hardwood and on laminated hardwood.

The actual color of Russian Red is Orange, not fire engine red.
Here's real Russian laminated wood showing the common colors:

Thanks for the post; I love the reds! I saw the lower laminate sell for over $600 yesterday. It's not my favorite but it was a beautiful non-refurbished example. I do prefer the deeper reds though.....they are just sexy!
