Opinions on upper/lower AR setup?

Hey everyone, getting ready to jump into the AR game and wanted to see what you guys thought of the upper/lower setup I've pretty much decided on.

LMT Defender lower

BCM 18" upper w/ 15" handguard
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-...Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-18 ss410 miss-15.htm

We have a range that goes out to 600 yards so this won't be used for 1000 round days of run n gun, just mid-long range paper punching for fun. Also a reason I'd prefer the 18" barrel as opposed to normal 16" carbine setup..

I think all I need is a BCG (suggestions welcomed on that)...gonna order a redfield 4-12x to start out and probably a harris 9-13" bipod to go with it.

I might add a miculek or battlecomp later on depending on what I feel like spending on it.

So guys, any thoughts?

Lower doesn't really matter so long as the lower itself is in spec and you use decent parts. The LMT will more than cover you. The BCM upper, well, I'm a fan of BCM. I'd probably go ahead and put in for notification on their BCGs and grab one when possible.

MR, the Gunfighter charging handles are indeed nice; I have them in a couple of my rifles, and they just feel good and strong. You will be VERY pleased with them.

Thanks techno...the large version of the gunfighter seems like a good choice for a pretty good price.

Now to decide if I want to wait for the BCM BCG or go ahead and order a Daniel Defense one for a little more $ that's readily available...

If you have that kind of long range available and are going for 600 yard shots, I would go with one of the RRA Uppers

They have a line of tack drivers available in NM, Predator Pursuit, Coyote, ATH. Barrel lengths out to 20 inches and various twist rates dependent on which model. Various options for sights, charing handles again depending on model.

Mid weight Stainless barrels for the most part but one heavy duty one.

While they do not guarantee the accuracy of just the uppers (if you buy it as a complete rifle from them they do). Their accuracy guarantee in those listed is 3/4 MOA in those rifles.

Very likely to get .5 MOA as long as the lower is quality.

Well I was gonna go with the RRA ATH Carbine, or maybe just it's upper...

Then I saw this and kinda changed my mind...

It's still an 18" barrel...the ATH is a heavy barrel but about the same price for just the upper (just realized it comes with both the BCG and charging handle, the BCM doesn't). Both are 1/8 twist, the only difference is the RRA is a .223 Wylde chamber, the BCM is a 5.56 chamber..I will be shooting mainly .223 through it, but really like the way the BCM looks and I'm sure they both perform great.

Also, for a little more money I found a Bravo Company blemished lower with Geissele SSA-E trigger for about $450 shipped from G&R Tactical..

Just ordered a blem BCM lower with Geissele SSA-E trigger and M4 stock from G&R Tactical...

now to decide on the upper I want...stuck between the BCM 18" w/ 15" handguard (no BCG, chambered in 5.56) or the RRA ATH Carbine 18" heavy barrel (chambered in .223 wylde) upper for the same price, but it comes with a charging handle and BCG...

gonna order a gunfighter mod 3 charging handle for either one, and the RRA would save me $150 on the BCM or DD BCG, but I don't want that to be the reason I choose one way or the other. I think I like the looks of the BCM upper too much to pass up..I'm really diggin that 15" handguard..

decisions, decisions...
