Opinions on two used Glocks - I hate to ask

If there's one thing I see on forums. It's that most regulars hate when people come in asking.. "Which gun should I buy?" or "How much should I spend?" But, since I've done a lot of looking around and haven't found much online. And it seems that everyone I know has a different opinion I need a little extra help.:p

Currently I have the opportunity to buy two guns. A Glock 26 from my brother-in-law who is a LEO and a Glock Armorer. He's trading both that and his G17 for .40's (his department is moving up). He said he'd sell it to me if I wanted it. He wants about $400-$425 for the G26. A friend wants to sell his G19 for about $420 as well. So of course I want both. :) They both seem to be in average condition. Nothing to spectacular other than my friend will throw in an average looking holster with the G19.

A G19 and a G26 for roughly $840 does that seem acceptable? Yeah I'm sure I could find even better deals but I don't really want to spend months looking for them either. Locally I've seen a new G19 for $520..

Thanks for any input and sorry for the typical newbie-type post.

If they are in near perfect condition, you are getting an ok deal. Does the Glock 17 come with non-LEO high-caps? If so, I would jump on it for sure. If not, you could go either way. Let us know what you decide. :)

I would at least jump on the G26!!! The G19, IMHO you can take or leave. I have one, but, I am not as enamoured with it as I thought I would be. Now the G26 is a different story. Mine, or actually now, my wife's, is a tack driver!! I had Trijicon tritium sights put on it, along with the 3.5lb connector. It is the perfect concealed carry weapon!!! Alas however, it's now the wife's. $400 for the G26 is a good buy. Heck, $420 for the G19 is good too!!! I paid $464 for mine used. Choices Choices!!!;)

As far as I am concerned, there is no such thing as a stupid question, or request for advice. If I know the answer, I will give it to you.:D

From "The Blue Book of Gun Values" 22nd Edition by Fjestad

G19 and G26 with fixed sights:
100% condition - $495
98% condition - $425
95% condition - $345

Add $30 for the Glock adjustable sights. Add $80 for Meprolight sights. Add $105 for Trijicon sights.

your not going to get the leo hi caps.maby it will have a hi cap but its against the law for him to sell you his leo hi caps/

Actually his G17 mags are preban so he can legally sell them to me. However if they were newer and stamped for law enforcement use only then it would be illegal for him to sell them to me.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm probably going to leave the G17 alone though. I just don't know that I want a fullsize like that. Even though it has the preban mags and night sights. The G26 is a definite and the G19 is still just a possibility..

Geez, I just picked up a G19 ANIB with 2 10 rounders and one FML full cap mag for $300.

Did I get a good deal? Oh yeah, this was originally my pistol that I sold to my buddy who now in turn needed $ and offered the pistol to me at $300. So yes I know I got a steal!

Now I don't need no 9mm, but I ain't so much of a punk to turn the pistol down!

Now, lemme get that listed over on the sale area! ;)

From a dealer's standpoint,

expect a dealer to pay around $375.00 for a LNIB
G-26, and/or G-19; the two most popular models
in 9m/m from Glock. On the other hand, the G-17
would probably bring in $325.00, at best; with
most offering only $300.00.:):D So, you
can base what you might offer from this guide.

Okay, I've tried to figure it out but I have no clue.

What are the references to NIB LNIB etc?

Thanks,

Aurek I apologize for not pricing the G17 for you.

From your post it seemed you were interested in the 19 and 26.

The Blue Book prices are a bit high if you ask me.
RSR wholesales the guns to dealers at about $379.00. My dealer marks up at 10% over that. I recently picked up a G29 for $418.00 brand new that he ordered through RSR.

LEOs get them for far less because of Glock's law enforcement sales policies. If your LEO friend bought with the LEO discount you should really pay far less. I don't have the exact figures in front of me handy. At least ask him if he got the LEO discount!

Since he is LEO, he got that G26 for about $375 so I'd only offer him the amount he paid for it.

Otherwise, used G26s are around for the same price but you have to pay the sales tax and the gun store owner won't give him but $350 for it.

Same with the G19. $400 max. Offer $375.

Forget about the G26 and the G19 at those prices, unless you have need for a CCW gun. Take the G17 and some hicaps. You can start shooting all kinds of competitive forums, IPSC, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and GSSF. If it doesn't work out, just sell everything(at a slight profit).

Where does this $80 difference figure in for 98% versus 95%. How can you tell the 3% apart? And it wouldn't matter anyway. Glock adjustable sights are worth nothing, and Trijicons are slightly brighter than Meps, but not $25 worth. And besides, both companies will replace burned out bulbs....

Rainbow Six: Thanks, of course it had to be something simple. :P

Slickpupppy: No problem, you were correct about assuming I wasn't interested in the G17.

jtduncan: Could it be that varies from State to State? The gun shop we were at today said LEO price is $400. My brother-in-law figures if he trades the guns in he'll get a straight swap so he just wants what it'll cost him to replace if I take one.(He's been a LEO for over 10 years now so I'm sure he's swapped in a few before) Of course it could end up lower than $400. He hasn't said $400 is firm, he only guessed that $400-425 would be what he'd have to pay. He said he'd let me know when he goes in. So I could very well get it cheaper yet.

9x45: CCW is actually part of the equation. That's why I want to pick up his G26. As for the G19 my friend is offering a 'buddy' payment plan so I figured what the heck.. another Glock for me. ;) I also just like how the G19 looks and fits in my hand.

Thank's for all the responses, it's been helpful. :)

Glock stocking dealer wholesale price for G19/26 these days is circa $399, most wholesalers charge about $435.

We'd sell a nice used copy for $399-429 depending on inclusion of box, manual, Tupperware, etc. ...

A friend of mine, who happens to be a Border Patrol agent, bought a Glock 27 for 380$ in June. If he bought that Glock as a LEO, you shouldn't have to make him rich. Dicker with him for a better price.
