Opinions on the Taurus PT 111?

I picked up a new SS PT 111 this past weekend at a gunshow. Any opinions, good or bad, is appreciated.
The main purpose is CCW and this pistol seems to bridge the gap between my Glock 30 and my KelTec P-11.

Thanks!

I have one and they are good guns for their intended use. Mine functions flawlessly, so far. I have about 500 rounds through it at this time. I am still going through the break in period.

T Smith, I've had mine for about a year. First I don't like the trigger. It's too long and heavy even for a carry gun. Second the magazine release, at least on mine, is too sensitive. I'm affraid in a panic situation I would drop the mag out of the gun by accidentally brushing the release. I've done this just practicing and putting it in and out of a holster. And third it's not very accurate. Mostly because, I believe, of the long stiff trigger pull throws you off of aim. Of course a lot of practice will solve this. But once again in a stress situation who knows. I guess a good point is that most confrontations happen within 7 yds. I'm sorry I'm so negative. When I first got mine I thought I was the only to even have one, then the only one who liked one. But the "new gun" has worn off. And I'll probably trade it off for a Glock. I wish there was an easy solution to these problems because I really do like the looks and size of this little gun. Maybe in the future Taurus can at least address the trigger problem. Sorry if I made you mad T Smith, I was pi##ed after I bought mine and no one had a nice thing to say about it. I guess I now know why. Live and Learn. Happy shoot'n. Kevin

The PT-111 is a nice little gun. Mine has been totally reliable with all types of ammo. Everyone seems to have the same opinion about the trigger (it leaves something to be desired), but overall the PT-111 fits the bill for those who want a reasonably priced, reliable, small CCW pistol. With practice you'll get used to the trigger, and find that this gun can be pretty accurate.

Hmmm. Its basically the same gun as your P-11. (The big difference is that the P-11 has a hammer, and the PT-111 is striker fired.)

Basically, more of the same. If you've fluffed and buffed your P-11 (following the instructions at WWW.KTOG.ORG) you'll probably find that the P-11 is a better gun.

I have had mine for about 6 months now and yes, the trigger took some getting use to. However, the gun has been totally reliable and feeds anything I put in it. I am no expert marksman but after practicing with the pt111, I can put my rounds in a paper plate sized target at 25-30 feet without a problem. For defensive purposes, that'll work! :)

I bought one about a month ago.The black finished model. I liked it fine and could hit a milk jug 9 out of 10 times with it at about 50' but the trigger (here comes THAT TRIGGER again!) was kind of long and gravely(like rocks!) but it fit good in my backpocket and that is what I wanted it for. Every thing worked well untill I broke it down to clean it.(hey!I put my rugerMKII back together, o.k.?!) It started jamming on me after that. The manual was kind of vague as to where that little v shaped spring fits.So you may want to really study it before you break it down.I wouldn't even break it down for a long, long time !It ain't no Beretta 92! Any way you'll notice I started out talking about it in a past tense tone and to make a long story short, I got shed of it! Maybe I'll try a Kel-Tec next!
