Opinions on Star Ultrastar 9mm

I have owned several Star pistols and have never had a problem with any of them. The Ultrastar of mine was a good shooter and never missed a beat....got to horsetrading and its gone now but I would not hesitate to buy one if I got the chance. The one drawback is that Star has changed hands and the availability of parts is questionable.

Most people appraise Star firearms. They are reliable too. Thank you KITT
Any other Ultrastar owners out there? :)

own a firestar .40 and have had several star guns in the past. All were excellent pistols (except for the surplus model B I got, total dog). I love my 40 firestar, but good luck finding spare parts. You won't.

I have the 40 version, over 5 years and love it.

Only problem I have had is getting mags for some reason, even when it was new.

Star made these when they was having money problems and they did not get much exposure.

I used mine for a carry gun for 4 years and shot is alot and have had no breakage problems.

I have the smaller version called the Starlight model M43. I would imagine that your gun is the same except for the larger capacity. If it is beware of one minor fault. Take out the screw that holds on the rear sight and keeps the firing pin in the gun and degrease the threads on the screw and lock tight it right away because if you do not this screw will come loose and you will lose it. A bad scene because parts are about non-existant for this weapon.

I like the M43 excecpt for the fact that even though it is very, very small for a 9mm it is also very, very heavy being made of a very thick casting in both the slide and the frame. The pistol is accurate, reliable, has a good trigger pull and good sights and good grips and has a checkered front and back strap. I do like it very much and have had no problems with it except for having to lock tite the sight screw.
