Opinions on SKB SxS series 100 and 200

I have a question that some of you more seasoned Shotgun pros may be able to help with. I have the opportunity to trade for or buy a used SKB side by side that has some unusual markings. It is a Royal Light, and I have read in a couple of places that it is probably like a series 200. It does not have very ornate or particulary attractive engraving, but does have nice action, a coin colored receiver, and seems to be very well put together with quality wood and good balance. The catch is that it is missing the safety latch.

The dealer has it marked at $899 but says he will take $750 because of the defect. Or, he would trade me for my Browning series 2000 skeet barrel autoloader in good but not excellent condition plus $350. Is this a good first side by side, and is it fixable for a reasonable price? Or would I be better off to wait a good while and pick up a gun for 5 to 7 hundred more dollars by SKB? The prices on Gunsamerica are definitely rising since SKB announced the end of production of all their SXS's. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Personally any SXS missing parts, especially the safety, is best left hanging on the dealers wall.

Why has he not fixed it himself?

SKB's are up there with Browning and Beretta in quality, but do not have the network of spare parts that B & B have.
