I am thinking about buying a new Remington 700 Sendero SF.

What is eveyone's opinions of new production Remington's?

I seem to remember that some one had commented that they had some spotty products over the last few months.

By the way, I will probably go for the 25-06 option.

Thanks.

Absolom, the lock doesn't interfere with anything. Leaving the lock-dealie unlocked means that after a while you just forget about it.

I got a Titanium; the trigger is a bit better than my old Sako, but not as good as the Canjar on Ol' Pet.

I have an older Sendero S.F. in 7 STW. It is one of the few rifles around here that I have not "commited gunsmithing" on. I just measured the trigger pull and was amazed that it is 5 lbs. It doesn't feel like more than 3 and there is no takeup, creep or over travel. If Remington hasn't changed things up on this rifle too much you should be very happy. The 25-06 is a great round imhfo.

I have a Remington Sendero in 25-06 with a Leupold 3.5 x 10 Vari X III scope. When I first got it it refused to shoot groups of under 1 inch at 100 yards no matter what kind of ammo I used. Later I found that by adjusting the torque on the action screws with an inch pound torque wrench I could dial in the proper stress on the action to produce .25 MOA groups with my handloads. If you get one that is problematic do not discount that you may have to bed the action to the stock despite the aluminum bedding block for best performance.
Rifles vary in muzzle velocity. Two rifles of the same lot, manufacture and caliber can vary up to 250 FPS with the same loads. I finally got a FAST rifle in my 25-06 Sendero. I am loading a 119 grain Hornady SPBT to 3250 FPS from the Sendero's 26 inch barrel with no pressure signs. Point blank range is just under 400 yards and it is a flat shooting death ray on deer. My longest kill to date was a 175 LB eight point white tail buck at a measured 425 yards. He ran only 30 yards then stumbled and fell.
The mild shooting 25-06 is a dream out of an 11 lb. rifle. It feels similar to a varmit rifle.

Well I am convinced. If they still have one on sale tuesday (first day I can get there) I will pick it up. Otherwise I will start fishing for one.

I will be putting my spare vari-x III 6.5-20x40AO scope on it. I usually use that for sighting in rifles then back in the safe. Any recommendations on mounts? I assume a Leupold 1 piece mount with medium rings?
