I just put together a 300 win.mag for a customer to hunt in africa. It is a model 1999 barreled action, mcmillan modified sako hunter stock, talley mounts and rings. with a leupold vx-3 scope. At 100 yards this gun shoots three shot groups that a quarter will cover. Delivery time was about 16 weeks(this included them moving into new place of business and the shot show). I don't think you'd be unhappy with anything about a montana rifleman except maybe the price lol. hope this helps. jim
I have hears nothing but good things about MRC actions. They are a copy of the Model 70 (approximately), but very accurately made, trued, etc. Come trued, lapped, and in the white. Very reasonably priced, also.
dear shooter:
That action (I've never seen one) is bound to be a winner. It's probably made of a 4100 class of steel and properly heat-treated. It could be an 8600 class of steel but probably 4100 class. It's probably investment cast (?) and cnc profiled (?). It ought to be a duzy.
You know, on another subject, I would have loved to have been a mouse in the European plants that produced the fine Mausers and other rifles to learn the epecs on their steel and mfg. processes! My! What I could learn - but - after you get to 70 you just then begin, in a small part, what you don't know!
I'm just going up to the shop to work on my boat!
