Opinions on Glock 29

I'd like to hear what people think of the 10mm Glock 29. I have only seen pictures of one and was wondering about the size in comparison to a model 27. I own a 27 and it's a great compact for ccw. Is the 29 much larger? How many rds. does the mag hold? I was thinking this might be my next handgun purchase--Thanks

I own both the 27 and the 29. The 29 is larger but still concealable in winter time. In the summer the 27 (in my opinion) is the way to go. The 29 magazine holds 10 rounds.

A recoil comparison of full power defense 40s in the 27 and full power defense 10mm in the 29 is pretty close. Some 10mm loads which are still considered safe and below the maximum are (in my opinion) a handful in the 29. I load a 185 grain bullet going about 1150fps in the 29 and it's about the max I would want to fire on a regular basis. Yet it's still 50-100 fps below the max published velocity. Factory Hornady XTP 155 gr rated at 1265 fps are a nice defense load for the G29

You really can't (or at least shouldn't) load the 40 that hot that it becomes a problem in the 27, like some of the hotter 10mm can be in the 29.

I'm ripping off one of my own lame-o poems that I wrote in regard to a G22. But what the hell, it's mine, I can rip it off if I want to.

Ahem....

G27 is .40 short and weak

G27 goes squeak, squeak, squeak

G29 is made for a man

G29 goes BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!

Of course women like Tamara who carry G29's will kick my ass for the "made for a man" bit. :D ;) I love mine, and I have watched while a very petite woman shot mine better than I do. G29's are a little wider (and heavier) than G27's. The 29 holds 10+1 stock, the 27 is 9+1. Mag extensions for the 27 are available. I have a Pearce grip extender for my 29.

There is a G29 that has been sitting in my dealer's case for a long time. It keeps calling to me, but so far I've been able to resist...
