Not impressed. Especialy if used on car with auto transmission. Enter car, start car, drive car using parking brake when necessary, hide car and remove device at leisure. If car desired by a pro, device will not slow him down.
Auxillary ignition switch located in place of your choice, fuel shut off located same way......both or either make it harder to drive away.
Couple of years ago found a person with about fifty clubs, no key for any of em, they had all been picked. Dummy got em from a chop shop and thought he could sell em.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

Hard to tell from just looking at pictures, but it looks easily defeatable to me. One obvious way is to cut the carpet around the base and remove that piece of carpet with a vice grip and a hard yank. Then the device can be rotated (might need a few hits with a hammer) and removed.

The brake pedal is pretty easy to remove, couple of pins kept by spring or C clips. with practice no more than a minute to remove this device and have a functional car.

I remember seeing the infomercial for this latest piece of 'anti-theft' garbage. They had 2 'reformed' auto theives try to defeat it with whatever tools they wanted. The problem was that they picked some pretty piss-poor tools like a hacksaw and hammer and they worked on the device instead of the brake pedal. I think if they tried to saw the brake pedal lever, they would have been successful. Remember The Club commercials where the theif tries to saw the Club? Now they just saw the steering wheel and slip the Club off! Same deal with this brake thingy. Nice try though.

It's also kinda hard to defeat a flatbed auto hauler!

There's a device that will lock all 4 wheels using the standard braking system. Obviously it has to be plumbed into the brake system, but that means that it would have to be professionally removed by someone with immediate access to brake line tools. It also makes towing more difficult.

I'm not impressed either. I make my living as a mechanic. From the passenger side, a couple of good hard kicks would knock it right off. Carpet is soft and the floor is just thin sheet metal, both will give some with a bit of pressure. Also, you've got a nice long bar sticking up there to give you some leverage.

Thank you for the responses so far.

What anti-theft device do you folks recommend instead of this one?

I have the ultimate anti-theft device: I drive a Subaru. No one steals those. :)

Seriously, an alarm seems to do as much good as any immobilizer. The best ones can beep you on a pager-like device. I know people who have these on their Harleys during Daytona Bike Week and feel secure about parking their bike where they can't see it.

(Of course, it takes major cojones to snatch Harleys at random. You could wind up with the entire Bandido Nation hunting your butt. )

I have heard that simply splicing a toggle switch into your ignition and putting it where it can't be seen is effective against driveaways, though as someone said, a flatbed truck can still get you.

My worthless opinion,
If a pro wants your car they will have it, if you have good insurance and dont owe more than it is worth dont worry you will get a new car, professionally stolen cars are rarely seen again.(dont leave goodies in the trunk)
The kid who wants to play dukes of hazard in your car is the one to fear it will likely be recovered in much worse shape than it was. I think most anything will prevent the unexperienced ones from taking your car.
I prefer an alarm that is obvious or a club the visability is important it will make them look for an easier target!

Harumph. My club was removed by cutting through the steering wheel with a bolt cutter.

Best anti-theft device I can think of is a closed garage. I now won't live in any place without one.

jeff where i live the kids who steal cars get the easy ones. Even junk a self respecting thief wouldnt take.
You seem to have a little better prepared knowledgeable clss of car thiefs.
