I am seriously considering a Taurus Model 62C pump for my next purchase. I love the takedown feature, but am wondering about quality, duribility, longevity. Also, can anyone tell me if this is LR only, or s-l-lr as I may be interested in running some colibri primer only rounds through it. Any imput at all, as well as info on pricing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your answers.

By and large, Taurus makes a pretty good product, for the money. Hard to wear out a .22 rimfire...

Don't they have a website?

Art,

Yes they do have a website which I have visitied extensively. I was just wondering if any owners had experiances I may find help. And i was wondering what people have generally been paying for these in terms of actual prices vs suggested retail. I have never fired a Taurus product. Thank you for your response. Good to hear they are good overall

One of our local shops has a blued one that's got my attention.

Workmanship looks good, accuracy reports look good and the price is right.. Only problem is my checking account. :(

While it's a regional thing, I rarely see full retail prices around here - too much competition.

Taurus makes good stuff and has great service.

22 LR ONLY

A report on them said the origonals (not Taurus) would work with s-l-lr but they had problems feeding them. When Taurus made the new version they gave up the short option for more reliable feeding.

Thanks for all the info guys. I placed an order for the carbine model in stainless steel for 225.00 plus tax at my favorite shop. Can't wait till it arrives.

I have a Rossi 62 pump, 16" barrel version. I think this is the same (earlier) rifle as the Taurus. Accuracy is OK, the sights are somewhat crude and there are no provisions for scope mounting. It is 22lr only, but a spacer block is readily made for the carrier, these enable 22 short. You do have to disassemble the action to remove/replace the block though. It's a very enjoyable plinker, my nephew has put at least 6 bricks through it with no problems. BTW, if you hold the trigger back the rifle will fire every time the action is closed, just like an old model 12 Winchester.
