Opinion on the old two screw weaver rings?

I am about to mount a new scope on my Remington 700 30-06. I used my old rings on another rifle. The only rings I have left are a set of old Weaver two screw rings. Not sure how else to describe them. There is a large wheel type screw to secure them to the bases.

What are your opinions on these old Weaver style rings? Should I get something new or just go with these?

Old Style Weaver Rings

The old Weaver rings work fine. No scope movement on a 375 H&H. Only problem is when tighting the top strap screws, the scope wants to rotate. More so when new. Just allow for this. Snug them up, come back an hour later and final tighter them. The large wheel, hand tighten, then give it an extra 1/4 to 1/2 turn with a screw driver or other tool. You should not be able to loosen it by hand.

I've got them on both of my rifles, one a .22 and the other a .222

Good rings, not my favorite, but they do their job without issue.

Burris Zee rings. Work fine on Weaver bases and they pull straight down instead of rotating the scope. Can also be lapped to fine-tune fit & alignment. Not as pretty as Leupold/Redfield but very strong, simple & inexpensive; about $25.

They work, which is why I wouldn't spend money on something else. They don't hold any better than other rings, but, then, other rings don't hold any better, either.

If I care about looks, I'll go with Conetrols.

They work for me. I have taken scopes off rifles with the thumb screws, put them back on, and been in there on the first shot. The selection of base heights and ring heights is great. Whats not to like?

The Weavers work just fine. Not the best looking, but one of the best if you just want to hold the scope in place.

I've got old weavers (that I switched out with some old tip off rings a million years ago.) and an old scope on my SL8. The thing is a nail driver, and I'm sticking with it. I'd probably want newer rings and a new scope on a new, bigger gun, but if it ain't broke...
Your old weavers will do you just fine.
