Opinion of HK45 vs. XDM 45

I don't have any XDM but I have the HK45 which IMO is a superb pistol at the very top tier of non 1911 .45 pistols. I have both HK45 and German P220 and love both of them dearly. I am just a hair more accurate shooting my P220 but my HK45 is a bit of a softer shooter and both have been 100 percent reliable. The trigger was pretty nice on my HK45 out of the box with decently short reset. SA is sweet but DA is a bit heavy when new but gets better with use.

Of course the HK45 is hammer fired while the XDM is striker fired so that may play into your decision.

Below is the link to Todd Green's 50,000 round test of the HK45 and shows the incredible reliability and durability of the HK45. The HK45 went over 31,000 rounds before the first bobble. Only part that broke was a spring.

Some highlights.

The HK45 fired its first 31,522 rounds without a bobble of any kind, another pistol-training.com endurance test record. But the mere fact that it out-performed those other pistols tells only part of the story. I do not believe another .45 pistol could fire that many rounds, in that short a time, with that little maintenance, and survive. Anonymous internet chest-thumpers notwithstanding, fifty thousand rounds of full power 230gr ammo through a .45 pistol in eight months is staggering.

The pistol was only cleaned seven times during the entire test, going 10,181 rounds between cleanings at one point.
