Open Muzzle Holster Wear

I have a Crossbreed SuperTuck and a Kholster and I carry a full size handgun w/ me 95% of the time. For those of you don't know, they are both IWB hybrid leather & kydex holster.

Since my pistol is more than 4" long, both holster have a open muzzle design and the front end of the slide, muzzle, and the right side the the front sight constantly rub my pant.

Do you thinks the blues on my gun will wear out over time?
My front sight is a factory night sight that's not made of metal, what's the chance the thing just break from the slide? ...It is a polymer/plastic thingy :)

I am thinking about buying a piece of leather and just cover the open end with it, what do you think?

A gun that is regularly carried in a holster will eventually show holster wear. How much wear and how fast it develops depends on the holster, the handgun and the conditions it's carried in.

Plastic front sights are fragile in my experience, but I'm not aware of anyone making plastic night sights...

Yes, over time your blueing will wear. A closed muzzle holster may help with the muzzle wear, but expect wear as a normal part of carry.

I had a Crossbreed Super tuck on order and canceled it just because of this reason. I wear Wranglers and the rivet on the pockets would have worn the finish off the exposed barrel. I bought a MTAC. Problem solved! Kydex full coverage on the barrel.

If you carry it daily, expect to see some wear, no matter how you carry it. If you don't want wear marks, put in the safe and leave it there.

The "bottom line" with holster carry is that, over time, holster wear marks are unavoidable. Keeping the holster clean will, to some degree, slow the process but wear will show.

FIST will make any of its holsters (upon request) with a closed end but it is an extra cost.
