Open carry permitted in Arizona?

I was sitting in my ethics class today and somehow we manged to get on the topic of carrying firearms and the right to bare them. My professor is from Arizona and she nearly swears that open carry is permitted there. I would like to know about Arizona specifically as well as what other states permit open carry if any and if it is permitted, is there any specific license that you must first obtain to be within proper legal standing. Also just another question: How many states permit concealed carry? If I venture into a state where concealed carry is prohibitted and I am carrying, am I breaking the law even though I legally obtained the permit in my state? I would assume so. Haha, and one more, are there any states that you can carry concealed or open without a permit? TIA.

Alaska and Vermont are the only states where unlicensed concealed carry is legal. New Hampshire is another open-carry state, as well.

There are no state laws against open carry in Ohio. City laws are another matter and vary widely. Even in cities and small towns that don't outlaw open carry, you can pretty much expect a visit from your local finest and perhaps even a citation for inducing panic. Without a CCW license, you may not carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Ohio honors CCW permits from 16 other states. If you don't have a permit from one of these states and you are caught CC, you can count on being arrested.

I second the motion for packing.org for your CCW informational needs. :)

Open carry is indeed common in Arizona. The only issue is carrying on private property like malls or Wal-Mart. Their in-house security will make contact and ask you to leave and escort you out. I used to see many openly carrying citizens in Tucson. They were usually the ones who would stop and help you change a tire or wait with you until a tow truck or taxi arrived. Nice and friendly.

I live in Tucson and carry my glock around all the time. Never had problems from cops or anything. People look at you kind of funny in the grocery store but then again they arent used to seeing a 22 year old with pistol that isnt shooting up a school or something. But yea, some store dont like it in which case you just stuff it in the glove box or something. Hope that helps.

any police agency.I was never asked
to leave any stores,i don't go to
any malls very often. Here's some of
the stores i've been in.Target,sears
wal-mart,safeway,fry's and too many
fast food places to remember.I make
it a point to not do any business
with any posted stores.I also didn't
carry in a way that would draw any
attention to myself,IWB with a black
holster,dark grips and dark shirts.
So yes open carry is legal in az,
www.packing.org will give you a
