open carry in Yosemite national park

When hiking around with myself or a small group in Yosemite, I like to carry bear spray. But according to the Yosemite website, you are not allowed to carry any type of pepper spray. http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/weapons.htm
So what is your experience in open carry a firearm there. I ask because I do not have a CCW and since it is in California.

What I think is it's a set up.

As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park.

It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park. As a starting point, visit the California Attorney General's website.

Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park; those places are marked with signs at all public entrances.

Discharging a firearm for any reason is illegal.

Great new Federal Law, bring your weapons one and all, but if you shoot them even to save your life you are going to the pokie.

the Assimilated Crimes Act (18 U.S.C. 13). This law makes
acts or omissions punishable under State law also punishable under Federal law
where there is no applicable Federal statute to cover an offense. Laws enacted
by a State would become Federal law within the park and could be tried in the
Federal court system. This statute may be used by commissioned employees
only
in areas of exclusive or concurrent legislative jurisdiction.

Tom, is this where that crossover happens?
