Open carry in Texas

This is a two part question.

1. Is Texas trying to pass a open carry?

2. I know there was suppose to do a vote to make laws a little more slack on if you're gun makes a imprint does any one know if that happened.

  1. Efforts to pass OC legislation have withered on the vine during the last 2 legislative sessions. Without launching into an extended political rant, Texas' very short biennial legislative sessions and the intensely top-down committee review processes in both legislative houses make it very hard to pass anything even remotely controversial unless (a) it's an absolute crisis and/or (b) at least one powerful committee member is backing the effort; both are often required!
  2. Texas's laws regarding unintentional CCW exposure are less stringent than many people seem to think; see the following TFL thread: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=488997

State laws

For carry laws pertaining to Texas, you might want to visit Texas CHL Forum. Its a bit more detailed and has additional resources.

No dis to this site, but you might be more likely to find what you are looking for by narrowing your search to a specific state.

"Texas'...processes...make it very hard to pass anything even remotely controversial"

In general, a very good thing, I think :D.

(Despite that, the last Legislative session managed to pass 1700+ of it's 4700+ proposed bills into new law of the land).

Chris is right; short answer to question #1 is, 'not very hard'. I think most Texans are pleased enough with the status quo.

It's hard to motivate satisfied consumers to change .
