The kids been through more than a lot of us.
When we see the news photos of a crying screaming
child we blame the government. Did you see the smile
on his face in his dads arms? That should tell us something.
If his mom (God rest her soul) had not left she would be alive and
this would have never happened.
No picture was shown when they left Cuba. Maybe he was screaming
and crying then.
Forgive me for saying this but I think his Miami family was using him
to get in the spotlight. They showered him with gifts, I’m not so sure
about love.

Assuming that the photo of the father and son is authentic, I am not suprised that he is smiling. Just consider the circumstances.

1) This boy comes from a nation where armed soldiers/police routinely knock down doors and drag people off to prison or worse. 2) He has been taken at gun point by strangers from the people who have cared for and loved him for the past five months. 3) He is taken by these strangers on a helocopter and airplane for the first time in his life.

Finally, not knowing if he is to live or die, he sees someone that he knows and cares for. Of course he is smiling!

That is assuming the photo is authentic, which I have questions about. Notice the difference in hair length and the different clothing he is wearing!

I agree, we do have more pressing issues to address in our country. But this is not just about one small boy and we all know it.

Let me state that I have compassion for the people of Cuba in their Status Quo.I wish that they were free from their communist ruler Fiedel. But the political pawn Elian has failed. There is surely a better approach to Cubas liberation and or refugee situation than this little boys tug at our heart.

This sounds like a job for that humanitarian group aaaaahh whats their name? Oh yes the UN. Surely Cuba will have their cities bombed anyday now to liberate these people. I just hope they don't over shoot and hit us!

However the events that have recently taken place would never have happened if the Poster Child that was plucked from the ocean was a 42 year old man that was fat and ugly.

We have been had again. The Miami Cubans have taken another sneak attack on our sympathey for small helpless children representing a cause.

Precedent is what laws are based upon. Whether you are a cute and sweet little boy or a fat ugly old man. Our sympathey for a child always sway us to make decisions that we sometimes would not otherwise see or keep us from seeing clearly what is really at issue. Laws should be based upon merit and merit alone.

We constantly criticize Bill Clinton for using the school shootings and children killed by the unsafe storage of weapons against our cause of the RKBA. Well, the Miami Cubans have just used their Poster Child against every bleeding heart in the USA's sympathey for children.

We must weigh each and every situation the same. On its merits and merits alone. Oh sure, we all pay a lot more attention to something that appeals to us, whether it be a small cute child or a beautiful woman.But that is salesmanship.

Did you ever buy something and when you finally stopped and thought about it realized that you had purchased an article that you didn't even need or really want?

Caveat Emptor! Let the buyer beware,it is accepted as is. Whether you believe it to be something else, or better than what it really is.
