Online sources for ammo

What are some of the best places to order ammo from online? Looking not just for good price, but reliable service and regular stock. Buying 9mm range ammo and nice personal protection rounds.

Tough question

Given the current ammo shortage, anybody with a good source probably won't divulge it.

I get my range loads from www.mastercast.net, a topnotch reloading service (and there are many such services that are NOT topnotch). Check their prices, especially those for brass sent to them in exchange (same type and number). I send a thousand cases to them via USPS Priority Mail, the nine buck-and-change box. Any other way I am aware of costs more than twenty bucks.

For HD/SD ammo, I recommend you stick with the top loads from the major manufacturers. If you shoot someone, survive the encounter and then get a good lawyer. It would help your case, if it got that far, if you did not shoot someone with "exotic" ammo, AKA "reloads". My Browning Hi Power is loaded with standard pressure 124 gr. Speer Gold Dots, which is carried by the New York Transit Police. My 637 Airweight snubby is loaded with Remington's +p 158gr LSWCHP, in my opinion the best of the "FBI loads" offered by major manufacturers for snubbies. Neither of these rounds can be described as "exotic" or "cop killers", but they will do the job. For their performance in ballistic jelatin check www.brassfetcher.com. Impressive.

Cordially, Jack

I would add to those locations the following who are both commercial reloaders and have reasonable costing ammo:
1. Atlanta Arms and Ammo
2. Georgia Arms

Spent a good hour on all those links and Cabellas had the best deal for 9mm luger 115 FMG Wolf. Out of stock, and 0-1 weeks estimate for availability. 23.7 cents per round at 1,000 including s/h to my zipcode. Freaking amazing. I shutter to actually post this in fear of the price jumping. I can't afford it right now but will try and get ahold of a fellow 9mm friend to split the cost.

For those of you that are interested

take a look at any of the big online guys .. Midway .. Natchez .. ALL their regular handgun ammo is out of stock, and most won't even take a back order. I ordered some ammo from one of the biggies in March, it was supposed to be delivered this month. Got an email the other day saying it might show up in August ... times are tough ... I usually buy in bulk from ammoman; you just need to sign up for their email alerts and act immediately ... just ordered some 9mm Fiocchi from them last week, sposed to be here Friday .. I trust them, their prices are reasonable, given the current climate, and I don't have to pay sales tax or shipping ... and if you haven't already, get a .22 ... plenty of that stuff available, and using it at the range is better than nothing.

Way better than nothing, for more reasons than the price of ammo! :) I took my (only) .22 mag revolver to the range with two shooting buddies - one with a Kimber .45 and the other with a S&W .40. Both of them kept coming over to my lane to shoot my gun instead of theirs. They said it was more "fun."

Off-topic, just wanted to sing praises for "little" guns.

Another BIG +++1 for www.mastercast.net I cant say enough about this little outfit! I have put 5500 troublefree rounds of thier ammo down range over the last few years. The best part is that no matter what caliber of what load I buy, it is ALWAYS accurate and consistent. A nice plus with their ammo is that it consistently chrono's out at the stated fps or slightly higher!

It's reassuring to see fellow enthusiasts willing to share resources with like-minded folk.....One big happy family here :-)....My personal online source has been Midway, which, though back-ordered on some items, (like the rest of the world), has always been a reliable partner, with reasonable prices and excellent customer service.....And, to those few individuals who feel the need to protect "their" sources of ammo- shame on you.....(Just my personal opinion)....
:(

I've bought from ATG and Ammoman in the recent past. AmmunitionToGo is a real good place to go if and when they have stuff in stock (they've been out of 9mm for awhile now, but I still get my 7.62x54R from them). Ammoman - one caveat. I placed an order about a week ago for 500 rounds of Fiocchi 9mm (when they had it in stock). The site store crapped out with an error message, no confirmation e-mail was sent from either the site itself or UPS, and no indication whatsoever was given as to the status of the order until it showed up on my doorstep last week.

Hey, not, I had exactly the same experience ... placed an order for the Fiocchi 9mm, got an error message when I completed the deal ... I did get a confirming email, tho, and the ammo indeed showed up in a timely fashion via UPS ... As long as you got it, that's the important thing .. and they seem to have run out pretty fast ... it was a good deal, relatively speaking ...
