I'm looking for a Crosman Challenger 2000 as the basis for building a "tactical" rifle to practice with when I can't get to the range with my .308. I've been told that shooting the Crosman 2000 at 90 feet closely "replicates" (scaled down) the ballistics of the .308 M2 round at 900 meters. The thought of working on 500 yard accuracy in as little as 45 feet sounds fun. Would be a piece of cake to build some scaled down targets, etc.
Anybody know of a reputable on-line supplier of top end Crosman C02 guns? I'm NOT interested in a spring piston (I just sold an RWS) for this project.
Also, if anyone out there currently owns a Challenger 2000, how hard would it be to set it up with 30mm scope rings? I believe it comes set up for 3-position shooting, with front and rear competition sights.
