Hi everybody. I was wondering if the online career schools were anygood in terms of learning about gunsmithing. I am still in school and I think that these online school things will allow me to learn how to do gunsmithing at my own pace after I finish my school related things during the week. What are your opinions on online schools like Pennfoster (http://www.pennfoster.edu/gunsmith/index.html)
or any other related career school that offers gunsmithing. Thanks for all of your great help.

On Line

I don't know how the on line thing would work but I took a home study one which I thiught was pretty good. They sent you the lessons and you did them at your own pace.

wouldn't waste my time with that one

Contact AGI at the following link:

I have seen some of the home school progras and they aren't very good. They either don't give you all of the info or they just don't have enough material available.

The AGI program is taught by Bob Dunlap and he is a retired teaching professor and a gunsmith, he taught at Lassen College for many years. He will teach you how to diagnose problems and fix them as well as shows you complete disassembly and assembly. You will come away will a complete volume of DVD's on the different guns from single action revolvers and autos to break open shotguns. I think you would be much better off with their program. Give them a look before you waste money on one of the others.

Schools

The one I took I have 12 volumes of manuals from and complete info on most guns out there. With the one I took I haven't found a gun yet I have had trouble fixing no matter what the problem.
