Just orderd a Savage 11G in 22-250, and i was thinking of the scope set up. I have a Redfield 4-12x40, and a budy of mine could not bring the scope back to where he wanted because of the tube length of the Redfield and having two piece bases. I was wandering if any one has had problems with loading the internal mag on a short action savage with a one piece base?

I also have a Savage 11G with a one piece Weaver base. No, I haven't had any problem loading the magazine with that base in place.

However, if I had it to do all over again, I'd get the EGW one piece rail for that rifle.

No, the EGW is made of aluminum. Still, it's a fine base. If you want steel, there are several made. Valdada makes one, Leatherwood makes one, Badger Ordnance makes one. Google around and find the one you like.

I've always liked the Burris Signature rings. I'm sure that those Burris bases would work as well. Good luck setting up your rifle.
