one piece , 2 piece?

In relation to a cleaning rod - what is considered as 1 piece cleaning rod and what is 2 piece cleaning rod?
which one do you prefer?

One piece.
Any joint is a weak spot that can bend & scrape the inside of the bore.

Depends how it detaches.
If it inserts through the handle then I'd call it a one piece equivalent, if it screws into the end I'd call it a 2-piece.

It's the number of rod segments that make it a 1-piece, 2-piece, or more-piece cleaning rod. It doesn't matter how the handle attaches...

The only one piece rods I have are for .17 air rifles and handguns.
The rest are all three piece aluminum.
No damage so far.
The three piece for rimfire comes the closest to bending, but the rest are quite sturdy.
And fit in the cleaning kit box.
