One of my friends is finally on the web

Perhaps I am in error, but I believe you are from the former USSR? Given this, it so refreshing to see someone that has experienced the worst government can do so enjoy the US, even with all its worts.

Balint was born in Hungary and lived through first the Nazis, then the Communists. (Which according to him, there is not a whit of difference.) Sometime in the 50's, he came here and became a resident.

He is an educated fellow and very articulate. He has an extreme fondess for the US as it was originally intended and writes very eloquent and pointed columns for the Washington Times.

A lot of his writing can be found at:

He most recent book, "America's Thirty Years War: Who is Winning" is an excellent read.

For whatever reason, I equated you with him. (That's a compliment, by the way!)

Regards

ps Here you are pointing us to Mr. Teasdale's site and I am misdirecting traffic. Sorry about that.

Update,
His page is now at http://www.teesdale.com/

Here is a snippet from one of his essays: "Coming Trials"

"Someone said with a shake of the head, "I don't like where this is headed." We all nodded agreement... and then I sat in sorrowed fear as I heard the next words spoken.

"An old man, sitting in a leather-and-steel chair by the entrance, leaned over and spat grimly into the dust of the Midwest that blew gently along the road outside. His words were cold, and contained a sad and unmistakable finality.

"It's coming," he said.

"We all fell silent."
