One of my favorites........

I'm a little embaressed that my first post here was in the wrong place, since it was an introduction only.

Well, here's on of my favorites, a Three Screw Super Blackhawk. It belonged to my son-in-law who was killed in an auto accident in July of 1979. Shortly after his death, my daughter gave me this gun. As it appeared in 1979:

And as it appears now:

It has rosewood grips by Lett, Blackhawk hammer, and case hardened by Doug Turnbull. I've put just a little over 10,000 rounds through this gun.

"Does it shoot?" you may ask?

One of my favorite moderate .44 Magnum handloads, 10.0 grs HS-6 for about 1000 fps.

Don't feel bad I do way worse stuff like let my political fervor get the best of me at times. Welcome to the forums and very nice 6 shooter. Gotta love the classics.

Considerably so. But with full power loads there's noticably more muzzle whip, and blast. Keep most stuff in the 1000~1200 fps muzzle velocity range.

Very nice. I have a soft part in my heart for single action Rugers.

I think the mods take their job way too seriously. They act like an intro in the revolver section would cause the sky to fall. I'd let it roll if it were me, but it's not up to me.

That's a nice look with the shortened barrel. I bet it's a little handier to carry too.

The first thing that struck me was the shortened barrel...Nicely done...

I would have left the Super hammer, but other than that, this is one of the most beautiful Supers I have seen...

Maybe its just an acquired habit from years of Single Actions, but I prefer the higher and slimmer Blackhawk style hammer. It sort of digs into the flesh of my thumb when cocking and feels more secure to me.
