One good cop and sane judge.

Yes; Neal Boortz (libertarian Atlanta-based syndicated talk radio host; http://www.boortz.com ) was all over it at the time. He collected goodies (hotel accomodations, nice restaurant meals, etc), had them back to Atlanta for a weekend to show them that all Atlantans aren't idiots (like the upper-level police officers that demanded arrest, even after they knew the local magistrate wouldn't issue an arrest warrant).

I wonder what they tried to charge her with??? I was under the impression that it was not illegal to have a gun in the unsecured areas of an airport, especially if it is in a bag. I guess this way they can arrest anyone trying to fly out with their hunting gear. Next thing you know people who have thri kuggage tampered with and report it will be arrested for terrorism.

She was inside the "secured" perimeter. She had made it though security in her home city, was in the terminal in Atlanta changing planes when she discovered the firearm and fessed up.

If she weren't headed for an international destination (Cancun) she could have just continued on to her destination and mailed it home to herself.
