one for range and one for defense?

while researching the 342 i found alot of talk and concern about the recoil of the little beast. Many people complained that the harsh recoil hindered prolonged range time, hence many felt uncomfertable carrying the gun due to lack of control. this seemed to occur most when people where using +p and other "hot" ammo. The solution from many was shoot the light stuff on the range and carry the +p. or in the case of the 340's shoot .38's carry the .357's. is it me or does this seem like a bad idea. there is a world of difference (IMO) between a .38 and a .357, a .38+p and a .38. in a real life situation it could be the mother of all distractions, if follow up shoots were required. anybody else find this practice a bit dangrous? adversely, are there any LEO or military types who were trained this way? is this considered a common practice?

In the heat of a fight I do not think this would be a major stumbling block, but it is probably good to shoot some .357 loads so you know what to expect. When shooting a small light revolver with heavy loads a pair of light gloves will help take out some of the sting. I like the hardware store goatskin work gloves which are quite thin but pretty tough.

Cut out the end of the finger

Cut out the end of a glove on the trigger finger so you still get a good feel of the trigger. Maybe just behind the first joint. So you better get cheap gloves as I would hate to cut up some expensive ones. Maybe batting gloves from a sporting goods store.
