Like all other leftist news media outlets, NBC news flaunts its leftist bias at the same time demanding respect and credibility. A news organization can have credibility, or it can have a bully pulpit - it can't have both.

No objectivity = no credibility. Seems like a pretty simple equation to grasp...

NBC News Slanders Ann Coulter

In a vicious attack on Ann Coulter and her new book "Godless,” NBC News zeroed-in on her sharp criticism of the liberal "Jersey Girls” - the four highly politicized widows of 9/11 victims - leaving the impression that Coulter had attacked all 9/11 widows instead of the four women.

In introducing the segment, NBC anchor Brian Williams said "just when you think that it seems that there are no limits on anything, someone comes along and makes a comment that goes over the line – the line that is shared by just about everybody because some things are, it turns out, still sacred.”

Sacred?

Sacred, as it turns out, are the Jersey Girls. According to NBC’s Mike Taibbi, Coulter had written about some 9/11 widows charging that they have been reveling in their status as celebrities.

He reiterated the charge that Coulter’s attacks were on "9/11 widows” instead of the four Jersey Girls.

NBC then dragged out the shopworn David Gergen, the all-purpose "former White House adviser” who has never seemed to be able to determine what side he’s on, effortlessly sliding from a GOP White House to the Clinton menagerie. On cue, Gergen spoke of the "ugliness” of the charge against Williams' sacred icons.

Last night during a televised book signing in Long Island, broadcast on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes," Coulter fired back.

"[The left] sends out spokespeople, who - because of some personal tragedy - we're not allowed to respond to. Because their husbands died in 9/11, because they had a son die in Iraq. If they're making a point worth making, if they're entering the public dialogue, how about letting Howard Dean make the point.

"I feel sorry for all the widows of 9/11," Coulter continued. "[But] I do not believe that sanctifies their political message. They're the ones who claim to be responsible for the 9/11 Commission - a total Clinton whitewash commission."

More Coulter: "They have attacked Bush, they have attacked Condoleezza Rice, they're cutting campaign commercials for Kerry. But we can't respond because their husbands died . . . I think it's one of the ugliest things the left has done to political dialogue in this country - this idea that you need some sort of personal authenticity in order to make a political point . . ."

Asked if she would accept an invitation to personally debate the Jersey Girls, Coulter responde: "Sure . . . But I'm not going to treat them like victims, as with Cindy Sheehan and - oh, you can't respond to Joe Wilson."

Just who are the Jersey Girls?

Writing in The Wall Street Journal’s "Opinion Journal" in April 2004, Dorothy Rabinowitz noted that "all their fury and accusation is aimed not at the killers who snuffed out their husbands' and so many other lives, but at the American president, his administration, and an ever wider assortment of targets including the Air Force, the Port Authority, the City of New York.

"In the public pronouncements of the Jersey Girls we find, indeed, hardly a jot of accusatory rage at the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks. We have, on the other hand, more than a few declarations like that of Ms. Breitweiser [of the Jersey Girls], announcing that 'President Bush and his workers . . . were the individuals that failed my husband and the 3,000 people that day.'"

The four women - Kristen Breitweiser, Mindy Kleinberg, Lorie Van Auken and Patty Casazza - are scarcely representative of the hundreds of 9/11 widows.

Wrote Rabinowitz: "Others who had lost family to the terrorists' assault commanded little to no interest from TV interviewers. Debra Burlingame - lifelong Democrat and sister of Charles F. 'Chic' Burlingame III, captain of American Airlines flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11 - did manage to land an interview after Ms. Rice's appearance.

"When she had finished airing her views critical of the accusatory tone and tactics of the Jersey Girls, her interviewer, ABC congressional reporter Linda Douglass marveled, 'This is the first time I've heard this point of view.'

"That shouldn't have been surprising. The hearing room that day had seen a substantial group of 9/11 families, similarly irate over the Jersey Girls and their accusations - families that made their feelings evident in their burst of loud applause when [Condoleeza] Rice scored a telling zinger under questioning. But these were not the 9/11 voices TV and newspaper editors were interested in.

"They had chosen to tell a different story - that of four intrepid New Jersey housewives who had, as one news report had it, brought an administration 'to its knees' - and that was, as far as they were concerned, the only story . . ."

Two years ago Rabinowitz made the point that Coulter is being chastised for making now - that the Jersey Girls status as 9/11 widows allegedly gives them immunity from being criticized.

Rabinowitz wrote: "The venerable status accorded this group of widows comes as no surprise given our times, an age quick to confer both celebrity and authority on those who have suffered. As the experience of the Jersey Girls shows, that authority isn't necessarily limited to matters moral or spiritual.

"All that the widows have had to say - including wisdom mind-numbingly obvious, or obviously false and irrelevant - on the failures of this or that government agency, on derelictions of duty they charged to the president, the vice president, the national security adviser, Norad and the rest, has been received by most of the media and members of Congress with utmost wonder and admiration.”

The Jersey Girls actively supported John Kerry in 2004. As for the "civility" issue, NBC News, it should be noted, turned a blind eye to Al Franken's statement to Matt Lauer last October.

Then, Franken told the "Today" host that Karl Rove and Lewis Libby should be "executed." The comment drew a laugh from Lauer. Franken's comments drew no criticism from the major media, including NBC News.
More of that "kill Republicans" thing from the leftist/Democrat/socialist mouthpiece known as Al Franken...

I just picked up a copy of Ann's new book,"GODLESS", THE CHURCH OF LIBERALISM.

Im just finishing Stossels book and have not gotten to Ann's book yet.

Ann hits the nerve of truth and drives liberals right up the wall like surface to air missle!

NBC is one of many liberal news outlets that hates Ann and ANY other news outlet that doesn't teach the holy doctrine of liberalism.

Stossels book is good. He writes about myths and backs them with fact, such as public schools being under funded, when in fact they have plenty of money.

Class action lawyers get justice for consumers, when in fact they cost all consumers more while making the lawyers rich.

A dogs mouth is cleaner than yours? Ha!
Not quit, but people will believe anything, I mean how the heck do some of these liberals get elected:D

Ann Coulter, Franken, Limbaugh, Savage and whoever else are of the same ilk. Its a terrible day in America when folks have to spend over $20 on a book or listen to a radio show to learn how they should think. To me it is bad manners to talk about folks who lost loved ones simply because they dont agree with your politics.

Should have spent the $20 + dollars you spent on Ann Coulter's book and send a package to a soldier overseas who is actually doing something constructive.

as the song says free your mind......

I send my books to Iraq when im finished with them. I just sent my copy of Savages Political Zoo along with several others to the fine folks in uniform. Infact they request conservative reading.

So cool of.

Further more, the Jersey girls stuck thier own silly necks out into the public arena. Instead of blaming the damn terrorists, these liberal chicies blamed Bush.

Ann calls em right on. Im sick of liberals getting their panties twisted every time the opposition responds to one thier narrow minded liberal hacks like Cindy Sheehan or these Jersey girls.

For the record mr EGAD I have sent care pacs, money and freakin books to IRAQ!

How about you mr intellectual?

I have my shiny Global War on Terrorism Expiditionary Medal which means my Reserve Unit did a deployment overseas in the Afghan Theater. I recieved care packages and letters from a lot of people and wrote each and everyone of them a thank you letter. I served a total of 28 years and 9 months Active and Reserve time until I was medically retired with the Rank Of Master Sergeant.

Do I pass muster?

Next time think beore you jump on others in his forum. I bought a book and commented on it.

You know nothing about me.

And finaly NO you pass nothing, climb off your elite pedistal.

I did not buy the book but have listened to Ann Coulter and think you could have spent your money better. You can get better information on the internet.

apparently you knew nothing about me either.

I dont think I am the only person who thinks that rightist and leftist book writers and radio and TV personalities are bad for your brain and write to make money. After all Hitler wrote a book called Mien Kampf I bet it sold more copies that Ann has...lol. That doesnt make Hitler right tho.....

And finaly NO you pass nothing, climb off your elite pedistal.

Its to hard too get up on a pedstal being a 50% disabled veteran :p could you help me?

p.s. I didnt mention any names in my original post just a comment on those type of books, I made a general comment on those type of folks which write those books which was my opinion.

Ill have to tell some of the soldiers I work with I was called an elitist...thanks for the chuckles, the guys will get a kick out of it.

Thats a little better.

Attack Ann, but, "do not attack me" simply because I bought her book. I have read many books from all points of view and donot buy into Ann Coulters the way to go group think.

I do enjoy her writing because she is a natrual at pointing out the FAILURES of liberalism.

I wish you people would STOP COMPARING everyone on the right to Hitler.

Hitler this, Hitler that, is that it. WAAAA I dont like his opinion so ill compare it or him to Hitler, that ll show.

I've never heard anyone that knew so little about Hitler than the fools that have to use him for cover.

Now, NBC and MSNBC are both hypocrites and hate the fact that little conservatives have a new voice in the fight. They just can't handle it. The liberal media has lost its control over the imformation matrix and I for one LOVE IT:)

I think the blond hair dye is effecting Ann's brain

and whats with all the name calling...kids do that.

FYI this was on FOX the *cough* fair and balanced network.

COLMES: You're talking about godless liberals not having values, not being values people. In light of that you've been in the news a little bit lately, accused by election supervisor Arthur Anderson in Palm Beach of voting in the wrong district and not answering a registered letter that they sent to you. And they say that you might have committed a felony. So could you address those charges and tell us what happened?

COULTER: I think the syphilis has gone to their brains.

COLMES: Is that what it is?

COULTER: Yes.

COLMES: Did you knowingly vote in the wrong district?

COULTER: No..... No. I live in New York. And I'm not going to tell you anymore about where I live, Alan. ....

COLMES: You didn't knowingly walk into the wrong district?

COULTER: Correct.

COLMES: And did you -- is there a reason you didn't respond to the authorities when they sent you a registered letter?

COULTER: This is all false, I'm telling you. You've got -- I mean, the "Treason Times" may hate America, but they're at least accurate. When you go to the bush-league newspapers, you get all the venom of the New York Times, but they're all retarded.

sounds like something a elementary school kid would say..lol

and you think I am going to spend money on one of her books????

If she posted stuff like that on this forum I think she would be getting an e-mail from the staff...lol.

I wish you people would STOP COMPARING everyone on the right to Hitler.

find any other posts on this site where I compare the right to Hitler

My point was the fact that Hitler wrote a book and sold more copies that Ann probably has. Writing a book doesn to make one right nor wrong. Ann puts her underwear just like everybody else one leg at a time...lol

For the record Franken and Michael Moore are dolts also. I wouldnt take a free book from them.

Oh ya she does:cool:

I still love all the commotion and debate though.

But that doesn't change the fact that NBC is held together by liberal hypocracy and trys to bleed it into society daily.

MSNBC is still running back page stories aout some damn blood bath our fine marines caused, now what the H&%(* is up with that noise sarggg?

Uhh...Carbiner,
You may not have noticed, but Coulter never actually responded to the charges leveled by the Jersey girls. She directly and personally attacked them. Not the same thing.
She insists that it's impossible to respond to victims, but it's not. Or at least she never tried. Her idea of a "response" is a venomous invective-filled screed.
It's not a display of liberal bias to slam her for what she said.

I agree with Eghad on this one; Coulter is a waste of oxygen just like Moore.

Eghad, you elistist, how could you be otherwise if you don't hang on the every word of the goddess of the common man that is Coulter? You probably aren't from Texas either ... probably some pinko hippie blue state like Massachusetts. I'll bet your middle name is Kennedy, right? :p :D

carbiner, you're getting awful close to the point of just being plain out of line. What does Haditha (I assume that was the target of your allusion) have to do with any of this?

With regard to Coulter, you all can tell me about the book, because I won't be wasting my time with her vitriolic ruminations on religion and WTC-widows, just like I won't waste my time with any number of political hacks and blowhards (Limbaugh, Franken, Moore, 99% of Fox ... take your pick).

There are 4 widows who are using their status as 9/11 widows to make political hay. Coulter has attacked them in her book, and questions the sanctity of their opinions, as opposed to anyone else's.

Coulter has been attacked herself by the MSM, Hillery and certain others of the libral crowd for making those comments.

The point. Once you get into the realm of the political, you are fair game for attack and recriminations. Period. Matters not who you are.

This thread could have been a good launching point on what makes a persons opinions better or worse than anyone else's; whether or not they are using a tragedy purely for political gain; whether or not their "victimhood" raises them above criticism; who should be allowed to criticize them; etc.

This thread was not about who has sent what to the troops. It was not about how much time you served. It was not about what books you buy or should not buy. It is not about some alleged voting misconduct. It is not about what book or books a foreign dictator wrote.
