The 5th Amendment only applies to testimony which could lead to your being placed in jeopardy of conviction. If you haven't committed a criminal act, the 5th Amendment does not apply. Are you wondering if you can refuse to answer any question posed by a gov't agent/LEO to you, regardless of whether you're being investigated or interrogated?

I think I know where you're going with this

If you need to defend yourself from investigation, get a lawyer. Refusing to give licenses and registration during a traffic stop is a no-win situation too. You can't simply refuse to recognize police authority based on the 5th.

Like I said tooooooo much coffeeee! Gotta stop drinking that stuff :(

Ok I as just read ita and says "nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself".

There is ALOT more that one can provide to be a witness against ones self other than testimony.
