If I can get these kills with my entry level Gamo air rifle what could I do with them $5,000 dollar Olympic grade rifles on their 10m range?

This was at around 60 feet thru twigs... The snake is fed...

They wear alot of gear for a 10m air rifle shoot off.
weighted jackets, special wrist guards. I thought I was overdressed shooting at squirrels and crows in my boxers and a bathrobe in my apt complex.

anything deserves to die if it wakes me up at 7am.:D

It is physically possible for the pellet to go through the 10-point circle without touching the edge. "Possible" is not the same as "likely". 10 meters, ten shots. One shot per target.

If you only have one "rub" of the circle's edge during your string of fire, you might do well.

All you have to do is learn to shoot between heartbeats, and learn how to deal with the two-tenths of a second time-lag between the time you think, "Shoot," and your trigger finger actually moves. Since nobody is a human bench rest, you must anticipate when your sight picture will be perfect, two-tenths of a second later--and do it between heartbeats.

Best luck, and good shooting!

These were sent to me to try... Real nice pellet I was told they were olympic grade. The guy may have told me they had been used in the olympics at one point but it was a long time ago. Notice the foam... Sure must be tedious work to put them pellets in.:D

hogdogs, squirrel shot was nice but you don`t get any respect here till you post same shot dispatching one of those wild pigs you talk about. Must use same air-rifle:D

So the 10 "ring" isn't a ring, it's a dot. And they score each shot to a tenth of a point. Anybody know how that works? When I was watching, it didn't seem to be consistent. A 9.2 sometimes appeared to be farther from the center of the target than an 8.7, for instance.

If you think you are that good, sign up for a match. You don't need a super-expensive air-rifle, any match-grade side-cocker will do(easier to shoot from positions).

I did a few Olympic and International air-rifle matches way back when. It requires skill, but not any more skill than other rifle competition, and it's pretty entertaining. They run Olympic qualifier matches at least every few years, it's not expensive to sign up, and I think they hold them at lots of different places. I think any university with an air-rifle team will probably have a sanctioned Olympic qualification match every once in a while.

I have used that air rifle on hogs... up to 200 pounds. But I stuck the muzzle less than inch from their noggin to do it... Worked great every time.:D
I don't reckon I could hang with them kids. Vision is weakened and just my blood sugar refusing to settle down causes shakes when low and worse vision when high.. I could hit the target consistently just not so sure about that itty bitty spot in the center.

You would be ahead of a lot of the university kids just from experience. It's not all about 10s for the position events. 3 position is prone, kneeling, and offhand. 4 position adds sitting but 4 position is more of an NRA match, and most air-rifle matches are international-flavored. If your knees can hold up to the kneeling stage, you would do well I bet.

Air-rifle matches aren't all fancy and stuck-up like you would think. They have one at almost every smallbore match and smallbore shooters tend to be the salt of the earth.

Gotta stop drinking coffee, though. You can't shoot your best with caffeine in your system. That's probably the most strenuous part of the deal, matches start early. Dragging ass all the way to the firing line.

hogdogs, know the feeling of the eyes failing. p.s. if you ever go to olympics keep the name hogdogs so us here at TFL will be sure to root for you:D

I was a Camp Perry recently and got the chance to shoot on the new indoor , air-conditioned Olympic quality Air Rifle Range.
The target is scored acustically. The bull is not paper. It sensor that measure the sound from all 4 corners of the pellet trap. the shot is then projected on to a computer monitorat each shooter's firing point and on a big over head behind the shooter for the audience, like bowling scores. Very cool.
There is a runing paper behind the targert that records the hits so there is a paper trailing out the bottom of the target to provice witness to the shots.
