Does anyone out there have experience with the 1911 style pistols offered by these guys. If so what are your thoughts? Are they worth buying?

Could you please tell us what Olympic Arms did to get some guns banned? Not saying it isn't true, it's just news to me. Is this the same "Olympic" that makes AR-15's, or the old Olympic that made .22 target pistols?

Yeah...I'd like to know myself...facts only please and the source. I get tired of hearing the rumor mill stuff.

I just read a review in one of the anual gun books on a Olympic 1911. The author gave it a favorable review- accurate, well made, good value, etc.

Though I have no personal experience with them.

I don't recall Olympic getting any guns banned. Are you talking about the famous
7.62x39 AR pattern pistol?

That caused major problems with imported ammo supplies as handgun ammo that is AP is a big no-no. While I forget the details exactly,
folks warned Olympic about this but they bulled on and screwed things about.

Caveat - old man memory might have this wrong.
There were also other interpretations.
