Older Rem 700 Front site removal??

I have already removed the front pin but have no idea how to remove the front site base. I do not have the 2nd hidden screw under the front pin as I have read from other while trying to research this. I originally removed the front pin because it was obstructing my view through the scope. Now I would like to remove the base because it is an eye sore. Could it possibly be welded on??

How early a model 700? Mine is an early 70’s and it was affixed with two flat-blade screws. If I remember correctly (haven’t seen the sight in 30 years) the blade and base were all one piece.

Edited to add: Just did some research. All say the second screw is under the dovetailed blade. I must have drifted it out. I must be getting old because I really don’t remember doing that.

What was I going to say ?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Jerry45 , but it don't get better ! If the front sight ramp isn't screwed on , it's silver soldered . I'll set a tool or a part down , and then hunt for it for 5 Mins. , before I can get back to work .

I was sitting on the ground working today and though my grandson (6 ½) walked away with my hammer. I was calling him and asking what he had done with it. I had looked all around and it was gone. Wife came out and asked what I was looking for. Hammer! It’s gone. It’s under your leg. Oh! :o

Was it geronimo who ripped his wife a new ear hole because she was laughing at him because he couldn't find his knife?

She was younger, and was laughing because he had it in his hand.
