Picking up an older 22lr Saturday. The gun has no safty notches. The guy behind the counter told me that I should keep it that way for collector value. Any thoughts on this one? I can send it back to the factory and they will update it for zip.
Thanks

Collector value.........hmmmm..........probably true.......but if you carry it you might WANT those safety notches.

I'd keep the "collector" stock, and buy a new (safer) one (or two) for carry.......JMO

I have a NAA Mini Revolver in .22 WMR and I carry it with the hammer down on an empty chamber. So I only have 4 shots, but with this type of weapon you better get the job done with the first or second shot as it would be doubtful that you will get another chance.

My NAA Mini does have the safety notches but it appears that the hammer spring is slightly compressed when the hammer is in a safety notch. This is another reason I prefer the old method of carry of "hammer down on empty chamber."

I highly recommend NAA's pocket holster. It has a snap-pocket for additional ammo (as if you would get time for a reload!).

My NAA .22LR Mini is so old it has "Newbury Park, Calif." on the side instead of "Provo, Ut." (I bet the Mini couldn't be manufactured in California these days.) I sent it back for the updated "notch" cylinder. They also put $150.00 worth of new parts into it. Surprised the he.. out of me!
I say send it back. An updated pistol is the way to go if you are going to carry the Mini. I also agree about the nylon pocket holster. Mine holds the little Mini securely, but the little reload pocket isn't held together by a snap, mine's velcro.
North American Arms is a great company to do business with. (I purchased a Guardian too.)
